Roland Kuykendall

November 11, 1943 — April 13, 2024

Roland Dale Kuykendall was born November 11, 1943 and went to be with his Lord April 13, 2024.

He was predeceased by his parents Elnora Butler Kuykendall and Roland McCoy Kuykendall, his son Anthony "Tony" Kuykendall, and his sister Barbara Kuykendall Rodgers.

Roland was born in Grand Saline, Texas and lived there most of his childhood enjoying a country boy life. He later moved to Dallas where he graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. After graduation, Roland trained with the Dallas Police Department. Immediately upon graduation in 1964 as a police officer, he was drafted and entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as an MP. After his discharge in 1967, he returned to the Dallas Police Department where he remained until his retirement. Later, he was the Security Manager at the Glen Lakes community in Dallas and then a security officer at the Forney High School. During his 50 years in Forney, he was involved in Little League, Forney Boosters, the Lions Club and many other organizations.

Roland married his wife, Fran, in September of 2000 after meeting at a conference in Beaumont, TX. He would frequently say, "I married her because she loved to fish and owned her own tackle box and she married me because I owned the boat." They enjoyed many happy "competitive" days on the lake.

Roland was taken from us too soon but he experienced many joys in his life. Foremost were his boys, Tony and Charles and his grandson Cameron whom he considered "a real corker".

All your family and friends will miss you greatly and will think about you enjoying the best seats in the house for all the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers games.

Roland is survived by his wife Fran Kubiak Kuykendall, his son Charles (Courtney) Kuykendall, grandson Cameron, his brother Rocky Gene Kuykendall, half brother Roland McCoy Kuykendall, Jr. (Cindy), nephew Erik (Brittney) Kuykendall, niece Erin Kuykendal, and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
