Roland Earnest Schell, age 81, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, in Frisco, Texas.

Born on January 6, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, Roland proudly served in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life he reflected on with deep pride. After his military service, he enjoyed a long and dedicated career with the Dr Pepper Bottling Company, where he worked for 45 years before retiring. His loyalty to the company extended well beyond the job-he remained a devoted fan of Dr Pepper throughout his life.

He found peace and joy in fishing, a favorite pastime that brought him both relaxation, solitude and camaraderie over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eneth and Fred Schell, and his older brother, Lynwood Schell.

He is survived by his son, Chris Schell, and daughter-in-law, Nancy, as well as two cherished grandsons, Logan and Aidan. He is also survived by his younger brother, Edwin Schell, and sister-in-law, Linda; his stepdaughter, Shannon Moore, and her children, who brought him joy and laughter.

He maintained a valued, long-standing relationship with Betty Green, spanning nearly four decades. He also held a special place in his heart for her daughter and son, Angie House and Brad Green, who were part of his life for many years.

He will be remembered with love and fondness by countless friends, extended family and special neighbors, including the Helms and the Yates families, whose lives he touched with his kindness, sense of humor, and steady presence.

A gathering of family & friends will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Texas Junior Anglers, Venmo: jeff@texasjunioranglers.org
