Ronnie “Ron” O. Wright (76) of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. Ron was born on June 26, 1945 to Ray and Melivee Wright in Childress, Texas. In 1965, Ron graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas and continued his education at Amarillo Junior College. Ron married his wife, Lea Gail Wickware, on June 23, 1973, at Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Dallas, Texas where they met and fell in love.
During his life, Ron served in ministry for several years at Evangel Temple and also at Freeway Forest Assembly of God Church in Houston, Texas. While living in Houston he served for three years as the Youth Pastor and the principal of Aldine Christian Academy of Freeway Forest, impacting the lives of numerous students associated with the school. Ron and Lea returned to Dallas in 1977 where they returned to Evangel Temple. Ron loved studying and teaching God’s Word and began teaching a Sunday School class at Evangel Temple that was well-attended. His teaching was always encouraging and thought-provoking, creating a group of people wanting to discuss the Bible to learn more. Ron was enthusiastic about music of every kind. He had a talent and love for gospel music of almost every kind from hymns to choral to groups and instrumentals. For several years, he served as the Worship Leader and Choir Director of Evangel Temple with a talent for pulling people together to create special moments of worship and praise during regular services and special holiday music.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Melivee Wright; his brother, Gaylon Wright; sister, Pamela Wright; mother-in-law, Violet Wickware; father-in-law, Albert Wickware; brothers-in-law, Daniel Wickware and Weston Osbourn.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lea Wright of Mesquite, TX; his brother, Michael Wright and wife, Elizabeth; sisters-in-law Kellye Wright; Nona Jones; Nita Key and her husband, Ray; Dell Mara Lovell and her husband Joe; and Anne Wickware. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Lea would like to thank VNA Hospice, LifeCare Home Care and The Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre of Dallas for their care of Ron during the past year. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and The Wounded Warrior Project to honor Ron’s life
