Roy Fain

November 21, 1951 — March 29, 2024

Roy Arnold Fain, Jr of Mesquite, Texas passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2024 at the age of 72.

Roy grew up in Pleasant Grove where he attended Comstock Jr High before graduating from H. Grady Spruce High School. He was a quiet, kind-hearted soul who loved his family and friends, finding solace and passion in playing his cherished guitars. His Fender Telecaster held a special place in his heart reflecting his dedication to music since he taught himself to play at the age of 12! Roy's talent shone brightly during his time with bands like Rock Creek and Traxx where he showcased his love for rock 'n' roll, inspired by guitar legends like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. His musical tastes were diverse, ranging from Todd Rundgren and Phil Collins to The Beatles and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Beyond music, Roy was a multifaceted individual with a love for photography, sports, animals, golf and philanthropy. Most importantly, he was an amazing PROUD father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending his days hanging out with family and friends, watching the Cowboys and Mavs, golf tournaments, Formula 1 racing, playing his guitar, and donating and supporting various charitable causes. Roy's generosity and love extended to children and animals, finding joy in simple pleasures like spending time on the patio with family, cigar in hand, playing with dogs and engaging in heartfelt conversations. The highlight of his week was spending Saturdays at Lonestar Park at the "Bar and Book" where he spent hours hanging out with his friends which were more like family.

Professionally, Roy excelled as a lifelong Structural Steel Detailer, showcasing his talents with numbers and mathematics. He spent nearly two decades at Draftco, where he not only excelled in his role as a Structural Streel Detailer/Checker but also formed lasting friendships, considering his colleagues as a second family. One of his greatest joys at work was his bond with Isaac, the office's beloved 90 pound Akita/German Shepherd mix, whose affectionate greetings brought Roy immense happiness each day!

Roy is survived by his beloved daughter Jennifer Wright, son-in-law, Lenonard, grandson Derrick and his wife Kaylynn, grandson Cameron, sister Karen, brother-in-law Victor, as well as numerous and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He touched the lives of many with his love, kindness, and generosity and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
