Ruth Darlene Satterwhite

Ruth Darlene Satterwhite, 90, passed away on June 8, 2026, in Terrell, Texas.

Darlene is survived by son, Butch Satterwhite and wife Mary of Forney, TX; daughter, Prissy Lovelace and husband Tim of Clermont, FL; and son, Gary Satterwhite and wife Kelli of Wills Point, TX; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Darlene is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Satterwhite; mother, Martha Nelson; father, O.B. Nelson; brother, Bobby Nelson; and sister, Nadine Sakis.

Darlene graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1953, where she met her future husband Arthur. There were times that Darlene would sneak out of school to meet Arthur to go and get a Coke. Arthur told Darlene he would marry her the first day he met her in study hall and she said you are crazy. The two married in 1953 and shared 60 wonderful years together until his death in 2013.

Darlene retired after 60 years as a church secretary and bookkeeper of Friendship Baptist Church in Mesquite, TX where they were faithful members. Darlene and Arthur generally raised half of the youth group at FBC. Their home was filled with young people anytime day or night.

Darlene will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.A visitation will be held on Friday evening, June 12, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX.

The funeral service for Darlene Satterwhite will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM at New Hope Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.
