Stephanie Lynne Baxter

February 13, 1969 — March 23, 2021

Stephanie Lynne Baxter was born February 13, 1969, in South Bend, Indiana. She passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in her sleep on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at home in Murphy, Texas.

Stephanie was deeply loved by her children, Jocelyn Irene (14) and Matthew Ryan (12), that she shared with Eddie Flores. She and current husband, Lee Wharton, were married in 2017.

Steph’s kids, Josie and Matt, were her life. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with them on one of their many adventures. Whether it be Christmas at Disney World, the family’s annual spring break trip to Dauphin Island, cruising the Caribbean, sledding in Colorado, or scootering around Cozumel, she was happiest with her kids and family.

Steph loved to crochet, an art she learned from her Grandma Baxter. Her famous baby blankets were cherished by all the babies in her life, both relatives and friends. Stephanie was learning to quilt, a passion passed down from her mom, Judy. She loved all animals, especially her four fur-babies.

Stephanie graduated from West Mesquite High School in 1987 and earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from University of North Texas. Her accounting career has encompassed residential home building, commercial construction and most currently as an assistant controller with CBRE.

She is survived by her husband Lee Wharton; children Jocelyn Irene and Matthew Ryan; dad Stephen Johnson; sister Jennifer (Baxter) and husband Jerome Kimbrew; brother Glen Johnson and wife Lisa; nephews Jesse Kimbrew, Glen and Adam Johnson; niece Mary Michael Johnson; in-laws John and Melva Wharton; cousins; aunts and uncles; and so many friends and coworkers that she loved dearly.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her mom, Judy Ann Johnson; grandparents Romie and Richard Acton, Mona and Earl Baxter; and brother Robert Johnson.

Visitation is Friday, April 2, 2021, from 6-8PM followed by a memorial service on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 3:00PM. Both will be held at the Landmark Family Fellowship, 2523 Clay Mathis Road, Mesquite, TX 75181.
