Stephen E. Jones

Stephen Edgar Jones was born on April 19, 1937 in Henderson, Texas and went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2020. He grew up on a farm in Rusk County, Texas along with his parents, Louis Paul and Irma Jones and five brothers and one sister. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Texas where he graduated with a degree in accounting. During the Christmas holidays in 1957, a relative introduced Steve to Jane Taylor. They fell in love and maintained a long-distance relationship until she graduated high school and he returned from his active duty Army service in February of 1960. He and Cora Jane Taylor married on April 30, 1960. He spent many years working in the accounting field, starting as a staff accountant and working his way up to accounting manager. He retired from his job in 1992 and opened his own business, Manicure Lawn Service, which he operated until March of 2002. He was a devoted family man who loved his family and his Lord deeply. He expressed that love by many years of service to his church family. He is truly an example of a man who lived his life with honor and integrity. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jane Jones and his brothers, Burton Jones, Gordon Jones, W. L. Jones, Paul Jones, and Reagan Jones. He is survived by his sister Ruth Hays, his two daughters Sharon Brown and husband Jeff Brown, Carla Cimino and husband Michael Cimino, and his son Alan Jones and wife Lauren Jones. He also is survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 N. Beltline Rd., Sunnyvale, TX.
