Suzan Cox Williams of Forney, Texas passed away in her home surrounded by her family on January 5, 2022 after fiercely battling cancer for nine years. She was 66 years old. Suzan was born to Johnnie Cox and FloBelle Shepherd Cox in Joplin, Missouri. She grew up in a large family in Seneca, MO where she graduated from Seneca High School in 1973. Suzan moved to Texas in 1975 and had two daughters, Kindra and Tara. She married Jerry Williams in Seagoville, TX on October 23, 1993 and they spent 28 years together.
Shortly after moving to Texas, Suzan enrolled in school to become an Air Traffic Controller. She excelled and became one of the only women in her class to complete the courses. After working as an Air Traffic Controller, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from UT Southwestern and spent the remainder of her career in and around the construction industry. She worked for GFRC, Glenn Thurman, Inc., Rodman Paving, and R-Con. She also was a consultant, helping a multitude of companies obtain permits through TCEQ. Her experience in the construction industry led her to starting two companies, Little Girls Trucking and Axis Contracting, Inc. Out of all her professional endeavors, she was most proud of Axis. Suzan, along with her good friend and son-in-law Chris Quentin and daughter Kindra, started Axis Contracting in 2005. Axis has grown to be a successful company with projects all over the DFW Metroplex.
Suzan was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She liked to travel and see new places. She was an avid reader, fond of gardening, and loved decorating her house and yard for the holidays (Halloween in particular). Countless hours were spent helping people and animals alike, from volunteering and fostering kittens for the Seagoville Animal Shelter to delivering meals and toys to families in need during the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and FloBelle Cox; her brothers, David Cox of Seymour, MO and John Cox of Wyandotte, OK; her brothers-in-law, Frank Vance of Joplin, MO, Dale Creekmore of Diamond, MO and John Gourd of Grove, OK.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry Williams of Forney, TX; her children, Kindra Quentin and husband Chris of Forney, TX and Tara Creekmore of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn, and Zora Quentin of Forney, TX; brother, Tom Cox and wife Jeanie of Seneca, MO; sisters, Sharon Whitaker of Mesquite, TX, Vivian Vance of Diamond, MO, Trina Creekmore of Diamond, MO and Joy Gourd of Grove, OK; mother-in-law, Irene Williams of Ben Wheeler, TX; sisters-in-law, Debbie Cox of Wyandotte, OK, Sheila Williams of Ben Wheeler, TX, Rebecca Williams of Ben Wheeler, TX, and Joy Hopkins and husband Donald of Murchison, TX; brother-in-law, Glenn Williams and wife Lynn of Murchison, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
