Susie Mae Jordan, age 99, of Mesquite, Texas, died December 5, 2002.She was born May 9, 1903 in Haslet, Texas to Fredrick Marion Haddock and Martha Ellen Angel Haddock.She was married to John William Jordan, Sr. and had one child, a son, John William Jordan II. Susie is survived by: her sister Erma Adkins of Coffeyville, Kansas; "adopted" granddaughter, Cathy Warnock of Mesquite; nieces Carolyn Byrum of Carlisle, Arkansas; Dolores Keener of Timonium, Maryland; nephew Donald Noah of Ft. Worth, Texas; great nephew John Bullard of Henderson, Nevada; and numerous other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; brothers, Fred, Vincent, Charlie, Herbert, Foy, and Hoyt Haddock; and sisters, Esta Pierce and Laura Noah. The family would like to give a special "thank you" to the staff at Rowlett Nursing Center. Your care and devotion to Sue during the last months of her life was greatly appreciated and we will never forget your kindness in her passing. Sue grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas where she attended Vickery School and Circle Park School.She graduated from The Seventh Day Adventist High School in Keene, Texas.She attended Southwestern Union College in Keene from 1924 until 1926. Prior to her marriage, Sue was a nanny to several families in the Dallas area. She took great pride in caring for and teaching the children in her charge. Sue will be remembered for the many children she served as a loving nanny and the close relationships she developed with many neighbors and friends. Many of those close to her affectionately referred to her as "Jorda." During her nearly 100 years, she lent her talents to many services and organizations, which included Christian Endeavor, Parent Teacher Association,(Life member) and the First Presbyterian Church. Sue will also be remembered for her quick wit, the twinkle in her eye, and willingness to always give of herself.She serves as a reminder of the niceties of bygone years by the care she took with the simple task of planting flowers to her classic penmanship.She had a great love for her family and her late son John, who was a source of great pride.We will miss our loved one and friend and will think of her often.Sweet dreams until we see you again. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas with the Reverend Tom Wilbanks officiating.Internment will be at Restland cemetery in Dallas, Texas.Family will receive visitors at New Hope Funeral Home on Monday evening, December 9 from 6-8 pm.
