Tammy Sue Meadows Hamlet, was born on July 22, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, to John Wilborn Meadows and Myrna Eugenia Harkrider Meadows.
Tammy had a kind and gentle heart, always caring for others before herself. Beneath that gentleness was a fierce and unwavering strength, one she would summon without hesitation to defend and protect those she loved. She was silly and childlike, playful by nature, and loved to laugh. Her inner child remained with her throughout her life, and when that playful spirit shone through, it was simply irresistible.
Tammy had a passion for decorating and found joy in transforming spaces with her own creativity. She also found happiness in the great outdoors, spending hours roaming the woods, whether on foot or by Jeep. She especially loved the snow and would travel to experience its beauty firsthand. Tammy had an adventurous spirit and a love for discovering new places, never needing much of a plan, all it took was filling up the truck, hitting the road, and seeing where the wind would take her.
Tammy had a special love for dogs and there was simply no use in debating the matter. She carried a tenderness and affection that extended to those around her. She loved unwaveringly, unconditionally, and with deep devotion. She gave freely of herself, often putting the needs of others before her own. Tammy was a rare and beautiful soul, a true gift from God to those whose lives she touched.
One of the most beautiful parts of Tammy's life was the love she shared with her husband, Craig Hamlet, over 37 years of marriage. For them, it was love at first sight. Neither looked away, both sensing that something extraordinary lay between them. Together, they shared a special bond, often reminding one another, "It's just you and me, kid." Those simple words became a tender expression of the love, loyalty, and togetherness that carried them through their life together.
Craig has mentioned that he could write a book about Tammy, for there was so much to her that words could hardly do her justice.
She was the strongest person he had ever known, possessing a strength that went far beyond what others could see. Craig wished he could have done more to help her process the pain she had experienced throughout her earlier years, but one of the things he cherished most about her was that she never allowed that pain she carried within her to dim the light she shared with others. Her strength was not simply in what she endured, but in the tenderness she continued to show the world. That light was a gift to everyone fortunate enough to know her, and it will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
Tammy was a Christian and a true believer in Jesus Christ. Throughout her life, she kept the Bible close, reading its words and holding steadfast to her faith in Christ Jesus and the promise of eternal life with Him. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she held close the hope of life everlasting with her Savior. Tammy passed away October 7, 2026 in Forney, Texas, at the age of 64.
She was preceded in death by her father. Tammy is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Craig Hamlet; her mother, Myrna Meadows; and her two brothers, Rick and Ted Meadows; her sister in-law, Roxanne Meadows and her in-laws Jim and Donna Hamlet, who will always carry her memory in their hearts.
For Craig, Tammy will forever be more than a collection of memories or a chapter in the story of his life. She will always be the love at first sight he never looked away from, his partner in the adventures of life, and the one with whom he shared those simple but enduring words: "It's just you and me, kid." Though he must now continue this journey without her by his side, the love they built over 37 years will never be lost. He will carry her laughter, her strength, her tenderness, and the light she brought into his world with him, always. And as long as he lives, a part of every road he travels, every beautiful thing he sees, and every quiet moment he holds dear will belong to Tammy. Their time together may have ended here on earth, but the love they shared will remain with him forever, until the day they meet again.
If Tammy's life leaves us with an example, may it be the understanding that the greatest gifts we can offer one another are the love we give, the compassion we show, and the kindness we leave behind. These are the things that endure long after we are gone.
