Tena Ann Ferris, born July 12, 1958, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 67. She was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Edwin Adams and Eula Ann Adams.
Tena was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who never met a stranger. Her smile and laughter captivated and lit up every room she entered. She loved to dance, whether it was country, push, or swing, and she enjoyed traveling, especially family cruises. She found joy in simple pleasures, like playing June's Journey on her phone where she formed friendships with people all over the world, and sharing weekly breakfasts with the Vela family.
She was especially proud of her career with the Dallas Police Department where she worked for 11 years up until the week that she passed.
Tena shared 22 years of marriage with Kelly Joe Ferris. Together, they devoted themselves to youth soccer. Tena helped lead instructional soccer and later coached in Special Olympics where she had the privilege of coaching her godson, Larry Milam Jr.. Though Tena and Kelly spent 26 years apart, neither ever remarried. In time, they reconnected sharing many travels and celebrating what would have been their 48th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2025.
Tena's generosity and radiant spirit touched countless lives. She was a shining light with a heart that gave freely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eula Adams. She is survived by Kelly Joe Ferris; daughter, Miranda Renae Glasscock; grandson, Ryan Charles Glasscock; brothers, Joe Charles Adams (Laurie), and Samuel Kevin Adams (Ann); mother-in- law, Hazel Ferris; sister-in-law, Pennie Smith; brother-in-law, Tracy Ferris; aunt, Vivian Hesser; bonus daughter and dear family friend, Alesha Hunter. She also leaves behind lifelong friends Cindy Milam, Donna Cox, and Joann Vela; her goddaughter, Brandi Jones; godson, Larry Milam Jr.; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tena will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, her laughter, her bright, generous soul and of course, her hats.
