Thomas is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Shirley McCann. Thomas is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary McCann; children: Mark Alexander McCann, Mandy Michelle Russell and husband Brent Russell; grandchildren: Alexandria McCann, Mark McCann Jr., Rebecca Russell, Brittani Russell, Dustin Russell;great grandchild, Nathaniel Thomas Lee; sisters: Linda and Ron Hoyal, Terri Ales, Christine McCann, Jeri and Tom Hyde; brother-in-laws: Bill Cates, Norman and Sherry Cates, E.C. and Nancy Cates, Charles and Toni Cates; sister-in-law, JoAnn Hiolland; godchildren: Jeffrey, Tommy and Avery Holland, Carlton and Layla Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years and was the Pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas for 21 years. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his name to New Covenant Baptist Church 820 East Highway 352 Mesquite, Texas 75149
