Thomas Kurian Thuruthel

1. K. Thomas (Raju) was born on May 17th, 1951, in Paipad, Thiruvalla, to Potha Kurien (late)

and Mariamma Kuiren (late). Among five sons, he was the fourth. After his schooling and

education, he passed the government ITI. He then labored in different parts of India, Iraq, and

Saudi Arabia. During his residence in Saudi Arabia, he got betrothed and married to Sosamma

Varghese. They begot two sons, Kurien (Rajesh) and Robin. The family decided to relocate to

India. They built their beautiful house in Paipad, Kerala, and made it into a lovely home open to

everyone. He stood strong in his faith by being very involved in religious activities of the

Orthodox church. Rajesh and his family are settled in Dubai, U. A. E. Meanwhile, Robin and his

parents, after their retirement, immigrated to U. S. A.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Thuruthel announces Raju's passing on February

15th, 2021, at the age of 69 years. Raju was a dedicated husband and father first. He treasured his

wife and children and embraced every moment with them. He loved his role as a grandfather. He

was a son-in-law to the Karivelil family but soon became the son of the family. He cared for his

in-laws when they needed support, especially when his father-in-law got bed-ridden. He was the

"fun" uncle to all his eight nephews and eight nieces. He was strong-minded and obstinate in his

political/religious views. He was always cheerful and guided many during their rough periods.

He enjoyed being hospitable to all that stepped foot into his house. If he could, he would have

fed everyone by hand. He had a caring and hardworking personality. He always made people

around him laugh. He made friends everywhere he went. He was an energetic person and full of

enthusiasm. He loved to love.

He is survived by his wife of39 years, Sosamma Thomas; his older son, Rajesh, along with his

wife, Rintu (Ponnu) and grandchildren, Rebacca George, and Nora; and his younger son, Robin.

He left behind four brothers, T. K. Philipose (Kunjumon) & wife (Kunjumol) , Varghese Kurian (Achenkuniu) & wife Accamma, Rv. Fr. T. K. Varghese & wife Annie, T. K. Mathew

(Georgekutty), and wife Jessy.

He left behind in-laws, Varghese Kurien (late) and Mariamma Varghese. His wife, siblings, include A. C. Georgekutty & wife Valsamma, K. V. Varughese (Raju) and & wife Annie, Pr. Mathew Varghese (Sunny) & wife Sheeja, Mariamma Panackal (Jessy) & husband,Alex.

The world lost a wonderful human being to COVID-19, but the heavens are rejoicing at the gain  

of a beautiful soul.
