Valerie Elaine Baker

Valerie Elaine Baker, 63, of Mesquite, TX, completed her 17-year battle with breast cancer on June 22, 2026.

Born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on June 12, 1963, to Helen and Rueben Summerville, Valerie graduated from Henderson State University with a degree in Business Administration and Management and later obtained her Master's in Finance from the University of North Texas. She spent over 40 years as a Financial and Account Manager for EDS and Crown Relocation. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering at her church, and watching tennis.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Keith Baker; daughters, Kelsi (Breawn), Laci Baker, and KenKiesha Bugg (Robert); Grandchildren, Braxton Bugg, Karrington Bugg, Robert Bugg Jr., Roman Waynes, Reighgan Waynes; Siblings, Roy Don Summerville, Willie Summerville, Brenda Futrell (Alvin), Barbra Stevenson (Lovevel), Kenneth Summerville, Mary Randall (Phillip), Lorie Bailey (Lamarr), Bobbie Laster, Charlotte Watson (Christopher), and Gregory Summerville (Felicia). She also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were dear to her heart.

Valerie will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, integrity, perseverance, and overwhelming love for her family. Her smile and light will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone she knew.
