Imagine for a moment a tapestry hanging above you in the lilting light of the afternoon sun. Imagine Pie's strong, sturdy fingers twining together the threads and yarns. Imagine how often she noticed grubby little bits of string in the street, how she would pluck them from the dirt, and weave them into the tapestry she was making. Pie made a habit of collecting strange things (and strange people), cleaning them up, nurturing them, weaving them into the fabric of her life - and somehow making them belong. The threads of saffron, gold, deep blues, and yes, even the murky dirty strands, tangle together into a perfect picture of Pie's life. The people she collected in her heart have become woven into the life Pie created. We all have become the work of her hands. There is no picture so precious, and it would take a multitude of voices to praise this masterpiece perfectly. One voice is not enough to give account of such a rich and vivacious woman. So Veta will be eulogized through the words of the people she treasured most highly - her children and grandchildren rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.

(For the family, granddaughter Kenady Toombs)
