Vickie Lynn Cathey

Vickie Lynn Cathey, 78, died on August 11, 2022 peacefully in her home in Mesquite, Texas.

She was born in Enid, Oklahoma on July 30, 1944. Her parents were Dorothy and Jesse Jarrett and she had two siblings, Bill and Jay. She married Cecil Ray Cathey, August 4, 1962 - after meeting and falling in love at first sight. They were blessed with 4 children - Jim, Sheryl, Jess and John - 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Vickie and Cecil remained married for 58 years until he passed in January of 2021. A truly undying love, she spent her remaining time on Earth waiting for the day they would be together again.

Vickie was a dedicated mother, grandmother and wife, a talented artist, a devout Christian and led a life of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and many friends and family.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 16, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home located at 500 US-80, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2022. Interment will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are John Vakidis, Tatiana Vakidis, Chace Cathey, Treston Cathey, Rope Cathey, Chelsae Cathey and Colten Cathey.

She is survived by children Jim and wife Sheryl Cathey of Forney, Texas, Sheryl "Natalie" Jobes of Wilmington, Delaware, Jess Cathey of Seagoville, Texas and John Cathey of Rockwall, Texas, grandchildren John and wife Dottie Vakidis, Tatiana Vakidis and partner Dave Saleh, Chace and wife Jennifer Cathey, Treston and wife Ashley Cathey, Rope Cathey, Chelsae Cathey and Colten Cathey and great-grandchildren Karanessa Morrison, Tatum Lynn, Treston William Jarrett II, Teague Lendon, Torin Wade "Tuff" Cathey, Wyatt Cecil Vakidis, Declan Robert Vakidis and Jack Hendrix Saleh and son-in-law Jimmy Vakidis.
