Violet Marlene High

Violet High, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on December 29, 2022, in Mesquite, TX. She was born on January 15, 1928 in Canton, TX, to James Northcutt and Panthea Read Northcutt. Violet graduated from Rains High School in 1945 and went on to receive a degree from business school.

Violet married Derrell Dean High on December 19, 1947 in Dallas. The couple adopted a daughter, Sandra Lynn, on June 3, 1954.

Derrell was an ordained minister in the Assembly of God for over 50 years. In 1957 and 1958, they pastored an Assembly of God Church on Dowdy Ferry Road in Dallas, Texas. In 1964, they became the pastors of Union Bower Assembly of God in Irving, Texas, and remained there until 1971. Derrell also worked for John Deere for 40 years and Violet worked for Harry Hunsicker and Associates as a bookkeeper until her retirement.

Violet was best known for being a willing vessel for the Lord to use to bless others.

Violet was able to live the last five years of her life in her home under the supervision of Jean Johnson and other caregivers that took care of her everyday needs. For this, we will be forever grateful.

Violet is survived by twin sisters - Nelda Lakey, Nola Royal, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Violet is preceded in death by father - James Elmer "Alex" Northcutt, mother - Panthea Read Northcutt, husband - Derrell Dean High , daughter - Sandy, brothers - Marvin Northcutt, Jim "Jr."Northcutt, David "Bud" Northcutt and Oren Northcutt, sisters - Sybil Nail, Vera Byram, Reba Daily and Hazel Hashop.

The service for Violet High will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 10:00 AM at Christian Center of Mesquite, 4401 East Cartwright Road, Mesquite, Texas, 75181.

Visitation: Friday, January 6, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home - Stateroom A.

Burial: 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2022 at High Cemetery in Canton, TX.
