Wesley "Wes" Howard Gentry left this earthly life on May 10, 2026 in Forney, TX, at the age of 86. He was born on April 22, 1940 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to parents Orus and Willie Mae Gentry.
He married Sammye Lee McCullough and lived in Sunnyvale, TX where they raised their sons, Timothy, Steven, and Scott.
Wes worked as a firefighter for 36 years with the Dallas Fire Department and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. After he retired in 2000, he started and helped operate By-Lo Fireworks until he was no longer able to work.
For most of his life, Wes was known as being very active and hard-working. He was well-respected by those who knew him. He loved being in the outdoors where he loved to fish, cut wood, mow grass, and work cattle. In addition to his daily activity, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Wes is preceeded in death by his parents, Orus and Willie Mae Gentry; brother, Robert Gentry; sisters, Fern Jester, and Verleen Jester.
He is survived by his wife, Sammye Gentry; sons, Timothy Morphew and wife Lisa, Steven Gentry and wife Cheryle, and Scott Gentry and wife Janee; step-sister, Edith Deloney; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other extended family.
His presence will certainly be missed, but we know his absence here with us is heaven's gain.
