William Bret

William Nicholas Bret, III, passed away on January 20, 2024 at the age of 70. Bill was born in Dallas, Texas on February 18, 1953 and was the oldest son of Helen Jane Bret and William N Bret, Jr..

Bill graduated from St. Mark's  school of Texas class of 71. Bill then attended and graduated from the Law School at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1978. He then returned to East Dallas where he practiced law in his own firm, notably, with partner, Diane Given.

One of his favorite pastimes was working on his old, blue Chevy truck. Even from a young age, Bill enjoyed tinkering and taking mechanical things apart just to see how they worked.

His mischievous nature, generous smile, and warm voice left their mark on all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Bret, Jr.; mother, Jane Bret; younger brother, Paul Bret; and law partner, Diane Given.

He is survived by his loving companion, Mareen Deaver; sister, Mary Bret and husband Phillip; brother, John Robert Bret and wife Laurie; sister-in-law, Victoria Bret; 8 nieces, 1 nephew, several grand-nieces, and 1 grand-nephew.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2024 at New Hope Funeral Home located at 500 E. Hwy 80 in Sunnyvale, TX 75182.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Missionaries of Charity, 2727 Harlandale Ave. Dallas, TX. 75216, or to the SPCA of Texas.
