Anthony (Tony) Derrick

Anthony (Tony) Derrick, 66, passed away at home on January 11, 2022, in Sunnyvale, TX.
Tony Derrick was born on April 18, 1955 in Magnolia, AR, to the late Earl and Janie Derrick. He
graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia with a Bachelor of Science in
Education in 1984. In 1994 he graduated with a Masters of Divinity from The Criswell College in
Dallas, TX. He had a long career in education and ministry, and was best known for his passion
for Christ, leading educational trips to Israel, and teaching of God's word. He also loved fishing,
woodworking, and tinkering with his 1982 Ford F100.


Tony married Jane Gunnels on September 2, 1976 in Waldo, AR. The couple had 2 children,
Jennifer Ball of Forney and Daniel Derrick of Fort Worth.


Tony is survived by his wife Jane Derrick, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Shane Ball,
grandsons Trenton and Joshua Ball of Forney, TX, son Daniel and daughter-in-law Brandy
Derrick of Fort Worth, TX, sister Debbie and brother-in-law Jim Bowers of Benton, AR. He also
had several nieces, nephews, and a host of other friends and family. Tony is preceded in death
by his parents Earl and Janie Derrick.


Visitation: Monday January 17th, 2022, from 1-2pm at New Hope Funeral Home with graveside
burial service to follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens in Sunnyvale, TX.


Pallbearers: Joshua Ball, Trenton Ball, John Bankston, Jim Bowers, Louis Cole, David Gunnels,
Alan Lynch, and Doug Murphy.


Memorial donations can be made in Tony's name to the music ministry of First Baptist Church,
Dallas or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
